Community.  Every one in the world has one.  A neighborhood (like mine), big city, suburb, rural area - whatever.  Our community is important to us in ways we see and sometimes we do not.  Every community includes an army of businesses - big and small.  These businesses are one of the main reasons your community exists.  I wanted to find a way to make it easy for people to frequent businesses in their immediate area.  This is good for everyone - community, environment, jobs, economy, and everything that drives our daily lives.

When I started web design and setup, one of my biggest frustrations was the do-nothing web site.  We can code the site, and get everything setup and looking great.  Even include SEO and all the bells and whistles.  The problem?  Care and feeding of that site.  The keywords and searches that work today will likely be someone else's tomorrow.  No matter what a business does to market their product, someone else in the same business is doing it too. 

Most people (not maintaining a server or in web setup or design) did not start their business to monitor their web site and change keywords and marketing strategy all the time.  We want to help people get back to their business.

How are we doing that?  By adding reasons for people to be in your community and spending their money there.  When someone sees your neighbor's business on our site, they will also see all of the other businesses right around you AND all of the sales or bargains that are offered in your area.  When they see events posted in your area, they see more reasons to come to your area.  Job listings, blogging, twitter links, video feeds - all are giving people reasons to be in your area.

We believe in providing options and fair competition.  We want to show people that they have an option - there are bargains and conveniences right near by.  You become part of a neighborhood of values.  Instead of alone promoting your web site, you and all of your neighbors that sign up are promoting your community TOGETHER.  Which is a much more powerful draw for your customers.

 

To keep it real, I have also incorporated Yelp reviews.  As a leader in the real-people review process, this is the site I go to so I can see how a business will be to do business with.  Also, I hate going to a site that offers reviews and no one has reviewed anything.

 

The more businesses that join, the more powerful our message.  My job is to get traffic to the site, to get people to sign up for our newsletters/ecoupons, and to make sure that we promote to not only people that are in your neighborhood, but also those that may be passing through.  That's why we are national - not just local to our community.
